Centennial High School & Tommy Stewart Field

About the project

The Centennial High School project is a $63.3 million expansion and renovation that will meet the capacity needs of our student population and eliminate portable classrooms.

What's happening now?

  • Spring 2018 - After meetings with District and school staff and two community info nights (January 10 and April 17), the project management team reviewed and incorporated feedback. Design will continue until the end of 2018.

  • Summer 2018 - Site preparation and utility work completed prior to the start of the school year.

  • Fall 2018 - Design will continue through the end of 2018. A Community Info Night for Central, Centennial and McKinley Field will be held October 30, 5:30 - 7 p.m., at Central High School Library for community members to see the latest progress and provide feedback.

  • Spring 2019 - A groundbreaking event will be held (date to be determined). Construction will begin on the north and south additions.

The Centennial High School improvements allow us to:

  • Renovate and repair existing infrastructure, including HVAC, windows, and security systems.
  • Modernize all classrooms, music, arts, as well as common spaces such as the auditorium and cafeteria.
  • Construct Career & Technical Education spaces.
  • Expand gym space to accommodate growing enrollment and eliminate portable classrooms.
  • Reonvate and refurbish on-site fields for physical education, athletics, and band.
  • Continued use of Tommy Stewart field for Friday night football games by both high schools.
